Alga House is a cherished family home located in a historic fishing neighbourhood, where architecture and memory are deeply intertwined. Passed down through generations, the house was recently renovated by the current generation with a clear goal: to modernise the space while preserving its roots.
Symbolic elements such as the original front door and a built-in cabinet were carefully restored, maintaining the soul of the home.
The rest of the intervention brought a renewed sense of purpose: new interior doors, skirting boards, flooring, and wood panelling in the hallway were introduced, along with two fully equipped kitchens — allowing the house to function independently across two floors.
The result is a contemporary, functional home, ready for the future while honouring the stories that shaped it.
